Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

To whom is the offer BPD addressed?

Our offer is addressed to management staff, entrepreneurs, business people, independent specialists, and sales specialists.

How is the BPD offer different from others?

We adjust the methods of cooperation with our customers according to data we receive during the preliminary coaching sessions and we choose the approach that best, in our opinion, addresses the specific problems which occur in customers’ business environment. In some cases we will recommend the best proven business methods but always after discussing them, which is characteristic to the coaching method. We are not a “classical” consulting company and we do not prepare complete business analysis or proposals. Neither do we provide universal education sessions for larger groups.

What does “coaching” actually mean?

“Coaching” stands for a process of discovering of the trainee's potential by means of observation of her/his work and subsequent discussion/interrogation which will guide her/him to the independent problem solution concerning her/his work. The Coach, instead of forcing through new methods, “merely” stimulates the self-development process. In many cases the coach helps to initiate skills or knowledge already received during studies or a class-room training.

What does „executive coaching” mean?

It is a coaching program for top management. In this case employing an outside consultant is highly recommended. There is a practical reason behind this approach: a fresh view on the internal processes of the company and lower feedback barriers during coaching. Coaching generally concentrates on management and communication skills, much less on “core business”, because top managers are usually good specialists in their own fields.

When does the top management staff need to be supported or coached?

Employing an external coach is effective when undertaking strategic decisions as well as during operating activities. In the first case the consultant can help to break the former routine which is a result of the company's history or of the trade standards. Because he comes from outside of the enterprise he can facilitate the manager towards new possibilities grounded on fresh perspective. The coach can employ his experiences from other areas and marketplaces and can also provide the proven methods in undertaking business decisions. In the second case skills ranging from business communication techniques, presenting of one's own standpoint, motivating others, etc. can be subjects of a particular coaching process.

Why does coaching help to achieve business goals?

Firstly, we define the coaching process as a project including goals we want to achieve under specified terms/conditions. Secondly, the coach provides constructive feedback that is not easy to obtain from colleagues or customers during everyday business relations. Thirdly, if the coach only inspires the solution generation process and does not provide ready to go advice, the manager is better motivated to implement them in practice.

What should the manager expect from outside coach-consultant?

The result depends on the specific project and coaching area. The most important results are: increase of effectiveness (focused on results), decrease of business risk, better human resources utilization (including the development of reserve staff), increase of management authority, better team motivation.

What are the differences between coaching, training, consultancy, and mentoring?

Coaching (on-the-job-training) is a form of an individual dialogue and concentrates on the increase of competency and effectiveness of an individual in his/her work environment; during the coaching conversations specific problems are addressed and “real-life“ situations are discussed.
Training is concentrated on knowledge and skills development by means of workshops and presentations for groups of employees (usually more than a dozen) and is more universal by use of more general terms and methods.
Consulting is the outsourcing of generating a specific solution by a specialist-consultant. For mentoring the roles of “master” and “student” should be assigned. The master possesses a good knowledge and experience and works in the same field or organization as the student. Knowledge and skills are transferred in different forms: publications, lectures, and also personal coaching.
All these four methods are very useful in organizations. Coaching has advantage over training in two cases:

  • when we want to solve specific problems and develop unique skills;

  • when the manager is not able to participate in the training due to the confidential nature of problematic subjects or for any logistic reason.
